New Social Gaming Bar Opens in the Heart of Copenhagen – A Milestone for Kappa Bar

Kappa Bar, Sweden’s leading destination for gaming, socializing, and great food, is taking its second step beyond Sweden. On Friday, January 31, 2025, Kappa Bar will open its doors in Copenhagen, introducing Denmark to its unique blend of gaming culture, street food, and creative cocktails.

“This is a huge milestone for Kappa Bar,” says Robert Dragovic, CEO of Kappa Bar. “Expanding outside of Sweden has always been part of our vision, and Copenhagen is the perfect city for our second international step. With its thriving gaming and esports culture, we believe Kappa Bar will feel right at home here.”

The new location in Copenhagen will feature everything that has made Kappa Bar a success in Sweden, from retro and modern video games to a vibrant social atmosphere and curated food and drink offerings.

“We see an increasing demand for alternative social experiences, and Kappa Bar is a perfect fit,” says Thomas Larsen, co-owner of Kappa Bar Denmark. “Gaming has become a cornerstone of modern entertainment, but until now, fans in Denmark have lacked a dedicated space to gather, play, and enjoy the community around it. We’re thrilled to bring that to Copenhagen.”

Bringing Gaming Culture to Denmark

Kappa Bar Copenhagen will bring the Swedish concept to life with a local twist:

“We are thrilled to embark on this journey with Janus, Leif, and Thomas,” says Klas Bergqvist, COO of Kappa Bar. “Their extensive experience, coupled with a fresh curiosity, makes them the perfect partners for us. Together, we aim to create a space that goes beyond gaming—a vibrant hub where everyone, whether they’re passionate about gaming or have never picked up a controller, can come together, enjoy great food, drinks, and an unforgettable social atmosphere. Our mission is to ensure that Kappa Bar is a destination for all, where fun and connection take center stage.”

“With Denmark being one of the leading countries in esports, it’s only natural to give fans a place to come together and celebrate their passion for gaming,” adds Skovby Andersen.

The Second Location with a New Identity

The Copenhagen location is also the second Kappa Bar to open with the brand’s newly refreshed identity.

“The new design reflects how far we’ve come since opening our first bar in Sweden back in 2016,” says Sia Talebi, Creative Director at Kappa Bar. “We’ve worked hard to create an atmosphere that’s both playful and high-quality, offering Danish guests a bold and exciting experience.”

Looking Ahead

This opening is just the beginning for Kappa Bar in Denmark.

“We have big plans for expanding across the country and hope to introduce the concept to multiple cities in the near future,” says Leif Skovby Andersen, co-owner of Kappa Bar Denmark. “With my background as a McDonald’s franchisee, I’m looking forward to welcoming other partners to join this journey and grow Kappa Bar together.”

Dragovic adds, “This is a key step in a larger expansion strategy for Kappa Bar. We’re thrilled to bring our concept to Denmark and look forward to seeing it thrive here. There’s much more to come.”

Two New Regions in One Month

Just a few weeks ago, Kappa Bar also opened its first French location in Marseille.

“It’s an honor to be a part of one of Sweden’s leading brands when it comes to gaming and hospitality. We look forward to introducing the Kappa Bar concept to France,” says Hannah Jamgotchian, Operations Manager for Kappa Bar France.
